Looking to buy a new vinyl cutting machine? Does your small business require a commercial cutter? Are you a Silhouette or Cricut fan looking to get your hands on the coolest new craft cutter for 2. Our complete guide to the best vinyl cutting machines is for you. We’ve curated a list of the best machines, the best buying advice, and — well — pretty much everything you need to know about owning a vinyl cutter in 2. Browse the guide below, or skip to the section that interests you. Here’s a quick sneak peek of some of our favorite machines: The Best Vinyl Cutting Machines in 2. The 2. 01. 7 Guide to Vinyl Cutting Machines. Vinyl Cutters in 2. Buying Guide. There are a huge number of vinyl cutting machines on the market this year, and it can be overwhelming to decide which one is the best for your needs. Before you start browsing, you should have some idea of what it is that you’re looking for. A personal or a commercial cutter? Bluetooth enabled or a manual operation? What’s your budget? Space restraints? We could go on. Here are a few pointers that should guide you into deciding exactly what type of vinyl cutting machine is best for you. Commercial vs Personal Cutters. If you’ve read our article on Vinyl Cutting 1. Which of these categories you fall into should dictate what category of vinyl cutting machine you’ll be buying. Commercial businesses who’ll be using the machine for signage, intricate designs or for a large roster of demanding client work, will need a machine that is: Able to cut large designs in lots of different materials (not just vinyl!)Able to cut complex designs quickly and without error. Able to handle multiple, complex jobs at one time. Physically large. More expensive. Individuals and craft cutting hobbyists, however, will have a different set of needs for their machine. It should be: Small enough to fit on a desktop. Easy and quick to use. Budget conscious. Able to handle smaller projects with ease. Able to operate reasonably quietly. Able to handle one job at a time, regardless of complexity. There will be a few people or groups who will float somewhere between the categories — small businesses, for instance, or hobbyists who like to do large- scale designs. Thankfully, there are a few machines that cater to this market as well, like the US Cutter MH Series, for instance. It’s always worth bearing in mind that just because a machine is able to cut bigger designs, it doesn’t mean that it will necessarily cut better. Only buy a big machine if you know that you’ll be needing it for large designs. The one reasonably accurate indicator of how well a vinyl cutting machine will cut is…Price: You Get What You Pay For. As with anything in life, when it comes to vinyl cutting machines, you get what you pay for. Generally, the most expensive machines are also the highest quality, able to take on intricate and complex designs and churn them out without a hitch. They usually have the highest standard blades that are able to make precise cuts in a variety of materials. That’s not to say, however, that the cheaper vinyl cutting machines aren’t worth bothering with. In actual fact, some of the latest desktop machines priced well under $3. They may be able to handle a lighter load than their more expensive counterparts, but they’re pretty much perfect for home- style crafting and even for small home businesses. As long as you buy a machine that’s best suited to your needs, you should be more than satisfied. Top New Features In 2. Wireless capability: Some of the best desktop cutters, such as the Cricut Explore Air and the Silhouette Cameo 3, are now Bluetooth enabled, meaning that you can be designing on your i. Pad on the sofa in one room, and send your design to the craft cutter in another room with just one click. Ideal! Automatic settings: We remember the old days when you had to fiddle around with pinch rollers to experiment with the best blade pressure for different materials — now, some of the more advanced craft cutters are able to automatically adjust their own settings to a range of materials at the flick of a switch. Software: As always, software for vinyl cutting machines remains contentious in 2. Our vote still goes to Adobe Illustrator for the best and most advanced designing, although we’ve also been experimenting with Sure Cuts A Lot, Vinyl. Master Cut and Cricut Design Space. The Best Vinyl Cutting Machines In 2. Here we take a look at some of the bestselling vinyl cutters on the market. We’ll cover the top personal machines for hobbyists, as well as some of the best commercial cutters too. Personal Vinyl Cutters For Hobbyists. These are cutting machines ideal for people wanting to create their own crafts without going Full Industrial: The Explore Air 2 is the latest release from Cricut and, in our opinion, is the best personal vinyl cutting machine on the market right now. It cuts and writes at double the speed of its predecessor, the Explore Air, and still boasts the same precision cutting, Bluetooth wireless capability, and software that — while basic — is ideal for the beginner cutter. The Explore Air 2 works with over 1. The fast mode works on vinyl, cardstock and iron- on materials. Read our in- depth review and rating of the Cricut Explore Air 2. The Good: 2 x as fast as the Explore Air, Bluetooth connectivity, precision cutting. The Bad: Quite loud. The Cricut Explore Air was actually released back in 2. We think that it’s one of the best vinyl cutting machines for beginners, blessed as it is with wireless capability, surprisingly high- quality, precision cutting and a refreshingly inexpensive price tag. Here’s a quick video about what you actually get with the Explore Air and how easy it is to operate: The best Explore Wireless Air bundle includes a deep cut blade and housing to cut thick materials like felt, canvas, poster board- even leather. It also has scissors, tweezers, a weeder, scraper, and spatula. Again, a fantastic choice for those starting out. The Good: Wireless capability, high- quality cuts, automatic settings, budget pricing. The Bad: You have to use the basic Cricut Design Space software. You can read our in- depth review of the Explore Air here. Before the Explore Air came the Explore One. And… they’re almost exactly the same, save the Explore Air benefits from wireless capability. There’s only a very small difference in price as well, so we’d advise bypassing the Explore One and going straight for the Air if you can. In all other respects, however, it works just as well as the Air (and suffers from the same software issues posed by the Cricut Design Space). The Good: High quality, precision cutting at a budget price. The Bad: No wireless connectivity and very basic software. The Cameo 3 is the latest craft cutter on the market and is one of our favorites, thanks to the Auto. Blade settings, a dual carriage allowing both cutting and writing in one step, and the generally sleek aesthetic. It’s certainly a more than capable rival to the Cricut Explore Air. One of the best things about buying a Silhouette product is the fabulous community of craft cutters that you’ll be joining. Who needs lifetime phone support with these crazy guys?! It also comes with the Silhouette Studio design software (with soon- to- be- released Bluetooth technology) which, while basic, is easy to use and a great jumping off point for cutting beginners. You can read our full review and guide to the Silhouette Cameo 3 here. Here’s a video detailing the major improvements of the Cameo 3: The Good: Auto. Blade automatic settings, double the cutting clearance of the Cameo 2, interactive touch screen and a roller locking mechanism. We’ll now focus on getting ready to deploy Exchange by first ensuring issues within the current environment are corrected, and then install Exchange 2. Pre- Deployment Remediation. While a bit of a mouthful, pre- deployment remediation could be explained better as “things we need to sort out before we install Exchange”. We’ll explain some of these below. Exchange Server Patching. · Dual Delivery Email routing between MS Office 365 Enterprise Exchange Online and Google Business Apps. If you would like to read the other parts in this article series please go to: Planning and migrating a small organization from Exchange 2007 to 2013 (Part 1). DS vs 3. DS vs 3. DS XL: Battle of the handhelds. Which Nintendo 3. DS should you buy? Nintendo has released a slew of different 3. DS models, each with their own unique sizes, specs and games to be considered. Over the years Nintendo has sought to reiterate its portable device with a series of makeovers, from the XL models to the kid- friendly (and confusingly- named) 2. DS to even the “New”, more powerful units. It can be pretty confusing to walk into a store and know which one to buy. We’ve taken a quick look at all the options currently available, including the original 3. DS, 3. DS XL and New 3. DS line of consoles. Oh, and who can forget the slate tile- inspired 2. DS? Now, we also have an upgraded edition of 2. DS in the form of the New 2. DS XL which is coming in July 2. Both the New 3. DS and the New 3. ![]() DS have noticeable benefits over the original iterations, including enhanced 3. D technology, larger screens and better processors, not to mention their additional features and small library of exclusive games. We’ll guide you through the buying process for the 3. DS family, including a few hints and tips to help decide which one would be best for you. For a full walkthrough of all the new features, read our extensive New Nintendo 3. DS vs 3. DS comparison. Experience high-powered, handheld gaming fun with Nintendo DSi & DS Lite Game Systems from Toys"R"Us. Nintendo DS systems are loaded with impressive features.![]()
New 3. DS – £1. 49. New 3. DS XL – £1. All the above are the RRP as outlined by Nintendo, but of course retailers consistently tend to offer better deals on all the handhelds. Despite it being over a year since the 2. DS was released, the 2. D console has managed to hold its price, with most retailers offering the 2. DS for around the £9. That price still means its the cheapest option on offer, but the original 3. DS is repeatedly on- par. Due to the introduction of the New 3. DS and New 3. DS XL, you’ll notice that you can pick up the original 3. DS for £7. 9 if you don’t mind the Ice White option. DS bundles tend to retain their value, with prices sticking around the £1. The New 3. DS is available for £1. The New 3. DS XL is £1. See also: Best 3. DS Games 2. 01. 7New 3. DS and New 3. DS XL2. DS vs 3. DS vs 3. DS XL – Screens. The Nintendo 2. DS and 3. DS have the same size screens. You get a 3. 5. 3- inch display up top and a slightly smaller 3. However, the 2. DS screens are actually part of a single, flat screen that’s split in two by the plastic screen surround of the console. It makes the 2. DS cheaper and simpler to produce. This isn’t possible in the 3. DS and 3. DS XL because of the hinge mechanism and 3. D top screen. The Nintendo 3. DS XL and New 3. DS XL have much larger screens. They’re 4. 8. 8 inches and 4. Just like the previous- gen DSi XL, though, you don’t get a real increase in image quality – just image size. The screens all use the same effective resolution – 4. However, in the 3. DS and 3. DS XL, the top screen has doubled this max resolution to 8. D. The New 3. DS has 1. Now you get 3. 8. D, compared to the original’s 3. See also: Nintendo Switch Review. DS vs 3. DS vs 3. DS XL – 3. DAs their names suggest, the 3. DS and 3. DS XL have 3. D top screens, while the 2. DS has no 3. D whatsoever. It’s another factor that dramatically reduces the production costs of that lower- end console. Both the 3. DS and 3. DS XL have little sliders on the side of their screens, letting you choose the power of the 3. DS effect. You can also turn it off completely. The type of 3. D used in these consoles is called autostereoscopic 3. D. It’s a glasses- free technology that requires you keep your head still. It causes eye discomfort and headaches in some people, which is another reason for Nintendo to produce the 2. DS – especially given the appeal it has for young kids. Both the New 3. DS and New 3. DS XL feature new, enhanced 3. D technology, which Nintendo is calling Super Stable 3. D. It uses the front- facing cameras in the new consoles to track your head and eye movement, automatically adjusting the 3. D effect according to what angle your head is at in relation to the 3. DS screen. We found the 3. D effect much more effective in these new consoles, not only because it’s more reliable and allows you to use it when moving or on public transport, but because the colour reproduction is better compared to the 2. D image. See also: Xbox One vs PS4. Nintendo 2. DS in Black/Blue and Red/White. DS vs 3. DS vs 3. DS XL – Which is the most child friendly? There is a benefit to the flat construction of the 2. DS other than keeping costs down. It makes the handheld console much less easy to destroy – the hinge of the 3. DS and 3. DS XL is an obvious point where they could fail. That’s not to say that the 2. DS is better constructed than its more expensive brothers, though. It feels a bit more like a children’s toy – but a rugged one that’s made of tough plastic. Nintendo is offering a free case with any purchases of the 2. DS and the larger 3. DS XL, which will keep your handheld protected when chucked into a bag. Although the 2. DS is our choice for the youngest children because of its price, lack of 3. D and study design, we’d still recommend any of the other consoles – just watch that hinge and overexposure to 3. D. See also: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games 2. Original 3. DS and New 3. DS2. DS vs 3. DS vs 3. DS XL – Design and Portability. DS – Width: 1. 44mm; Height: 1. Depth: 2. 0. 3mm. DS – Width: 1. 34mm; Height: 7. Depth: 2. 1mm (closed)3. DS XL – Width: 1. Height: 9. 3mm; Depth: 2. New 3. DS – Width: 1. Height: 8. 0. 6mm; Depth: 2. New 3. DS XL – Width: 1. Height: 9. 3. 5mm; Depth: 2. Not having a hinge increases durability, but reduces portability in the 2. DS. When closed, the 3. DS and 3. DS XL are both significantly smaller than the 2. DS. The 3. DS is 7. DS XL 9. 3mm and the 2. DS 1. 27mm. It’s much less easy to stash away in a bag and pretty much impossible to fit in most pockets. In comparison, the New 3. DS is 8. 0. 6mm high and the New 3. DS XL 9. 3. 5mm high, meaning they’re not much bigger than their original counterpart. Just as important, the clamshell style protects the screens of the 3. DS and 3. DS XL from scratches while the consoles are in a bag – the 2. DS is much more vulnerable in this respect. The 3. DS XL is the heaviest of the bunch at 3. DS is the lightest. It weighs 2. 35g, while the 2. DS is 2. 60g. The New 3. DS weighs 2. 53g, and the New 3. DS XL is 3. 29g. That means the original 3. DS XL is still the heaviest. See also: Best Wii U Games. DS vs 3. DS vs 3. DS XL – Battery Life. Battery stamina is different across the three consoles. The 3. DS XL lasts for between 3. The 3. DS last for 3- 5 hours and the 2. DS between 3. 5 and 5. Although the 3. DS is the ‘loser’ here, we also need to consider that the 3. D function itself uses extra power. Nintendo claims the two newer consoles offer a slightly longer battery life than their original counterparts, which is partly down to a new auto brightness feature. The New 3. DS XL has the longest battery life at 3. D turned on and 7 hours with the 3. D turned off. The New 3. DS, on the other hand, offers the same 3. D playtime, but only 6 hours with everything turned down. See also: Xbox One vs Xbox 3. DS vs 3. DS vs 3. DS XL – Games. There are no game support issues with the Nintendo 2. DS – it’s only a ‘cut- down’ console in some respects. All 3. DS games will work with the 2. DS, and all DS games will also work with all three consoles. How come? 3. D is an optional extra in every 3. DS game, and all three consoles have the same processor and the same array of sensors. Each has a motion sensor, a gyroscope and a microphone. They can all do the same thing, more or less. However, you might want to consider the fact that the New 3. DS and New 3. DS XL have enhanced processors, which speed up the loading time for games, download speeds and general menu navigation. At the moment there are only a handful of titles that currently take advantage of the enhanced processor. Some titles are exclusive, such as Xenoblade Chronicles, while others just offer improved performance. DS vs 3. DS vs 3. DS XL – Sound Quality. One of the most significant differences for more discerning gamers between the handhelds is sound quality. The 3. DS and 3. DS XL have stereo speakers, which are quite effective as they fire directly at your ears, from each side of the screen. The 2. DS has just a single speaker, which sits to the left of the screen. It’s not a major concern if you’re going to use headphones, as the 2. DS still outputs stereo through the 3. But when using that mono speaker it makes for a less immersive experience. Games.
